We experienced Disney Springs for the first time in 2024, and we couldn’t believe what we had been missing. There was so much more there than we were aware of, the range of shops, restaurants and things to do kept us coming back! We thought it would be worthwhile sharing a summary and recommendations.

While the retail and restaurants at Disney Springs are undeniable draws, the real magic lies in the experiences that don’t require a park ticket. These popular activities transform a simple outing into a full-fledged adventure.
- Soar High in the Aerophile Balloon: For breathtaking panoramic views, hop aboard the iconic, hand-painted helium balloon. It’s a tethered ride that lifts you up 400 feet, offering stunning vistas of Walt Disney World and the surrounding area.
- Take a Vintage Amphicar Tour: This is one of the most unique activities on property. Climb into a vintage amphibious car—a vehicle that drives on land and floats on water—for a guided tour of Lake Buena Vista. It’s a pricey but unforgettable experience.
- Watch the Spectacle of Drawn to Life: A creative collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and Disney, this show is a must-see. It combines the awe-inspiring acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil with the enchantment of Disney animation, telling a touching story about a young animator’s journey.
- Go Bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes: This isn’t your average bowling alley. Splitsville offers a luxurious, retro-modern vibe with multiple floors, great food, and live music, making it a perfect spot to escape the Florida heat and have some fun with the family.
- Enjoy Free Entertainment: Throughout the day and into the evening, you can find a variety of free live entertainment. From musicians performing on the Waterside Stage to Irish dancers at Raglan Road, there’s always something to see and hear as you stroll.

For many, shopping and dining are the main reasons to visit Disney Springs. Here are a few of the most popular and unique places you won’t want to miss.
Top Shops:
- World of Disney: This is the largest Disney store in the world, and it is a destination in itself. You’ll find everything from exclusive merchandise and Spirit Jerseys to toys and homeware.
- The LEGO Store: A must-visit for families. The store features incredible life-sized Disney sculptures made entirely of LEGO bricks, along with hands-on building stations for the kids.
- Basin: A sensory delight. This store sells handmade, cruelty-free soaps and bath products. It’s a great place to pick up unique gifts or just enjoy the soothing atmosphere.
Must-Try Restaurants:
- Blaze Pizza: Our eldest son is very enthusiastic about Pizza and claims this to be the best pizza ever! It was very busy but queue moved quickly, food was delicious and very good value for money.
- Summer House on the lake: The menu was varied, something on there for everyone, whilst a little more expensive it is a stunning restaurant with a great vibe in a perfect location.
- Gideon’s Bakehouse: A cult classic for a reason. This small bakery is famous for its nearly half-pound cookies and incredible cold brew. Be prepared to wait in a queue, but the treats are absolutely worth it.
- Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’: A family-friendly spot that serves delicious Southern comfort food. Their famous fried chicken is a standout, and the lively atmosphere makes it a great choice for a filling meal.
- The Polite Pig: A quick-service barbecue spot with a modern twist. The food is high-quality, and their wood-fired meats and unique sides make it a fantastic and flavorful option for a fast meal.
A Fair Assessment: The Good and The Not-So-Good
No destination is without its pros and cons, and Disney Springs is no different. A balanced view is key to planning your visit.
The Good:
- No Park Ticket Required: This is arguably the biggest advantage. Disney Springs provides a full day of Disney-quality entertainment and dining without the cost or planning of a theme park day.
- Atmosphere & Ambiance: The themed districts—Marketplace, The Landing, Town Center, and West Side—each have their own unique charm, from the rustic beauty of The Landing to the industrial chic of The Edison.
- Variety for Everyone: Whether you want to shop, eat, see a movie, go bowling, or just relax by the water, there’s a wide array of options to suit every age and interest.
The Not-So-Good:
- The Crowds: As a free-to-enter area with world-class dining and entertainment, Disney Springs can get incredibly crowded, especially on weekends and evenings.
- High Prices: While entry is free, many of the experiences, like the Amphicar tours, the Cirque du Soleil show, and even many of the table-service restaurants, come with a high price tag.
- Parking Challenges: Despite having multiple parking garages, finding a spot can be time-consuming during peak hours. Be prepared to walk a bit.
